The site

b-starts-boardfrmb2u.com started as a way to share daily bytes of a diverging life with a fellow writer halfway across the world. The site has since evolved into a portfolio of brainsnaps: anecdotes, commentary and reactions to the world that unfolds in my eyes. There is a consequent bias.

You will find feature articles on everything from red shoes and condom culture to Nabakov’s butterflies and the pros and cons of biofuel, as well as regular posts on current events and news that have piqued my interest.

From time to time a few articles with a common theme seem to make for a collection. Next thing you know, they’ve adopted a title and found their way into the navigation column, complete with red icon and an attitude. These things assume a life of their own.

Who is

I am a wordsmith just moved to Silicon Valley via New York City from Argentina by way of Ireland.

sm-red-bBorn and bred in South Africa, I’ve also tread soil and put up curtains in France, Britain and Tenerife.

This is my second sojourn in California — the first was almost a decade ago and textured with strawberries, spiderwebs and more cosmetic surgery than you can shake a scalpel at in Orange County.

I worked for and ran screaming from national newspapers on two continents before realising I could make non sequiturs and leaps of logic from anywhere in the world. While overlooking mountains, sea and sky. Or cityscapes. In my dressing gown or less.

b-spFor more than a decade my better half Bi Nari Numbr or sp (a stunt programmer, entrepreneur, guitarist and general polymath) has been my co-wanderluster, helpmeet and inspiration, ably weathering hurricanes of creativity, soapbox soliloquies and unfortunate hairstyles. So he comes up sometimes. Live with it.
